DRIVE CANCER OUT MISSION STATEMENT

We are a not-for-profit organization partnered with the Brown Cancer Center located in Louisville, Ky, whose mission is to prevent youth smoking. We use a marketing strategy intermingling provocative anti-smoking advertising with the thrill of driving.

We provide informative and entertaining educational seminars to our target audiences, informal interactive sessions at sporting and community events with our mascot Ford GT, and fun-filled driving related events such as road rallies while promoting and reinforcing the anti-smoking message - i.e. smoking causes preventable diseases such as lung cancer, heart disease, and other vascular diseases which can rob you of years and years of both life and quality of life.

We also provide an outreach program to Jefferson County Public Schools to promote a healthy, non smoking lifestyle for our youth.

About Us

Michael Bousamra, II, M.D.
Associate Professor of Surgery, University of Louisville
Director, Thoracic Surgery, Brown Cancer Center

Dr. Bousamra is a chest surgeon who operates on patients with lung and esophageal cancer. He also performs lung transplants on patients whose lungs have been destroyed by smoking.

Dr. Cervera is a medical oncologist. He specializes in treating patients with lung cancer using chemotherapy.
